Writer/Director Thomas Marchese

Having founded Darkroom Films in 2012, Thomas is a multi-award winning writer/director based in Monterey, CA. Thomas cut his teeth on music videos, short form narrative and documentary films, as well as commercial projects. 

Also having won awards for his cinematography, editing and producing efforts, Thomas’ first feature film, Fallen, Narrated by Golden Globe & Emmy award winner Michael Chiklis, took home the jury prize for BEST DOCUMENTARY FEATURE at the 2017 Hollywood Film Festival. Also taking home the Audience Award for Best Feature Film at the 2017 Phoenix Film Festival, the film secured theatrical distribution and was subsequently picked up by Netflix.  

Thomas' second feature film, From Black, starring Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect, True Blood, The Help), John Ales (The Odyssey, Black Rabbit), Jennifer Lafleur (Nope, Big Little Lies), Travis Hammer (Godless, True Detective), and Ritchie Montgomery (Ozark, True Detective), was purchased at Cannes by AMC and was subsequently released in 2023 on AMC+ and Shudder, in addition to more than 1,200 screens world-wide. From Black recently took home gold at the New Zealand Cinematographers  Society awards.  Congrats to mad genius DP Duncan Cole!
